THE EMBASSY of Sweden in Washington, D.C. invited a few hundred of their best friends to a reception on the evening of September 25th to launch their new fall program titled, “Voices in a Changing World.” Acclaimed Swedish soprano Malin Byström performed and embassy guests feasted on epicurean delights and sipped cosmopolitans, while schmoozing with the ambassador’s wife, Eva Hafström, embassy staff and their fellow invitees. Guests also got to look at two exhibitions, one titled “Voices,” which comprised contemporary ceramic art from Sweden, and another titled, “Sweden From Above,” which was a selection of aerial photographs by Lars Bygdemark. The reception also introduced a new café on the ground floor of the House of Sweden, called Café Bites & Sounds. It will be open Saturdays and Sundays 12-5 p.m. and will serve Swedish coffee and Swedish homemade delicacies.
