THE 18TH Annual Breakfast Celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., organized by Madeline Y. Lawson and the Institute for the Advancement of Minority and Multicultural Medicine, was held at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, Jan. 18, just two days before the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Among the honorees recognized at the breakfast were civil rights leader and Congressman John Lewis, D-Ga., and Ambassador Peter N.R.O. Ogego of Kenya, President Obama's father's home country. Several ambassadors attended the breakfast as well as the Kenyan foreign secretary.
