PETER STEINER, a former cartoonist for The New Yorker and now full-time portrait artist, presented his latest paintings in a show titled "Portraits and Self-Portraits" at an opening reception sponsored by the Austrian Cultural Forum at the Embassy of Austria on Thursday, Jan. 15.

THE SON of Austrian immigrants to the United States, Mr. Steiner's portraits capture a variety of emotions and personalities in a series of vivid expressionistic paintings.

THE EXHIBITION will run through April 17, 2009, at the embassy, located at 3524 International Court in Northwest Washington. For more information, visit www.acfdc.org.
