D.C. ARTISTS Kathryn Cornelius and Lisa Marie Thalhammer invited one and all to the Transformer Gallery at 1404 P Street, N.W., in Washington this week for a hearty meal of Campbell's tomato soup and bread, accompanied by Summer Camp ditties they performed to the enjoyment of the diners.

TITLED "Soup Kitchen," the event explored the relationship of art and community service along with the common concerns of the current economic situation in a format of a communal experience. Friends and homeless people joined in the dinner and enjoyed the performances of the "Soup Kitchen" program, which is a part of the Transformer Gallery's Summer Camp series being presented Feb. 7 - March 7.

DONATIONS and left over food went to SOME (So Others May Eat), a local nonprofit organization that feeds homeless and other poor people daily in Northwest Washington. For more information, visit www.transformergallery.org, www.some.org, www.kathryncornelius.com or www.lisamariestudio.com .
