THE ORGANIZATION COPRODELI (www.coprodeli.org) celebrated its 20th anniversary on Thursday evening, October 29, at Skye Lounge in downtown Washington, D.C. Coprodeli USA (www.coprodeliusa.org) supports the comprehensive development efforts of its operations in Peru, which for the past 20 years has aided families living in extreme poverty. Volunteers from the United States, Europe and Latin America provide services for people in need.
PADRE MIGUEL Ranera Sánchez-Pardo, a Spanish missionary priest, together with a group of Peruvian volunteers, has dedicated his life to serving the poorest of the poor. Since 1984, they have concentrated their efforts in the 30 "barrios" or neighborhoods in Callao, a port city near Lima where between 80 and 90 percent of the population have unsatisfied basic needs and live in extreme poverty. Padre Miguel created The Coprodeli Foundation, a non-profit international organization designed to assist in a comprehensive and long-term manner poor families in the region. Proceeds from Thursday's event will benefit Coprodeli's education, health and micro business development initiatives in the regions of Callao and Ica.
