THE ORGANIZATION COPRODELI (www.coprodeli.org) celebrated its 20th anniversary on Thursday evening, October 29, at Skye Lounge in downtown Washington, D.C. PADRE MIGUEL Ranera Sánchez-Pardo, a Spanish missionary priest, together with a group of Peruvian volunteers, has dedicated his life to serving the poorest of the poor. Since 1984, they have concentrated their efforts in the 30 "barrios" or neighborhoods in Callao, a port city near Lima where between 80 and 90 percent of the population have unsatisfied basic needs and live in extreme poverty. Padre Miguel created The Coprodeli Foundation, a non-profit international organization designed to assist in a comprehensive and long-term manner poor families in the region. Proceeds from Thursday's event will benefit Coprodeli's education, health and micro business development initiatives in the regions of Callao and Ica.
