The world famous fashion blogger Scott Schuman - The Sartorialist - to the right, with an admirer
"THANKS TO EVERYONE in D.C. for the great turnout last night! I expected great things in cities like London and Paris, but D.C. was a total surprise," one of the world's most famous fashion bloggers, Scott Schuman - The Sartorialist (www.sartorialist.com) - wrote on his blog on Tuesday. On Monday night, October 19, he visited the restaurant Masa 14 on 14th Street, N.W., in Washington, D.C., to sign his newly published book as part of his first US book tour.
Jillian Bonahoom, Victoria Greising, Sharon and Michael Landrum came to get their books signed.
THE LINES WERE long and admirers had to wait for hours to meet and greet the Sartorialist at this trendy spot, and Mr. Schuman kept signing books until the wee hours. According to reports, he was also surprised by the great looking and diverse crowd that showed up for this popular event. To be honest, Washington, D.C. has never been famous for style and daring elegance -- there are too many bureaucrats and too much bureaucratic sameness for distinctive style to emerge in any prominent way in this town. But maybe there is a change in perspective, even in the Nation's Capital.
MR. SCHUMAN IS famous for photographing regular, interesting-looking and stylish people of all ages. Some are famous, others not. He says, according to "Fashion Washington," a fashion edition to the Washington Post, that "I don't shoot a lot of black - it's become too easy, too boring," and he adds "excess can create more of a style problem than an answer."
