WHAT COULD BE a better on a pretty fall Saturday night than to visit House of Sweden! The Swedish Embassy in Washington, D.C. held a "Eurovision Night After Dark" party - maybe as a homage to the EU and the current Swedish presidency of the EU -- on Saturday evening, October 24. Several hundred people gathered at the beautiful modern glass building next to the Potomac River to listen to Swedish singer and Eurovision artist Anna Sahlene, DJ K-Tell who played Eurovision tunes and "Mr. Eurovision Sweden" Christer Björkman. There were also live presentations and karaoke for everyone to participate in.

MOST AMERICANS are not familiar with the Eurovision Song Contest - with the possible exception that they may know that the Swedish ABBA pop group won the competition in 1974 with their song "Waterloo." The House of Sweden Eurovision party gave them a sample of why this contest is so immensely popular in Europe. Perhaps a similar contest could gain a foothold in America.
"EUROVISION Night After Dark" was arranged by Svensk Musik, EXMS and House of Sweden.
