"DRACULA is Dead: How Romanians Survived Communism, Ended it, and Emerged since 1989 as the New Italy" - is the title of a book on Romania by former U.S. Ambassador to that country, Mr. Jim Rosapepe, who currently serves as a State Senator in Maryland, and his wife Sheilah Kast, the veteran journalist for PBS, ABC, CNN and NPR, and who now hosts AARP's weekly newsmaker cable TV show. Mr. Rosapepe represented the United States as Ambassador to Romania from 1998-2001.
The Romanian Ambassador Mr. Adrian Vierita speaks at the event.
THE RECEPTION and book launch on Tuesday night, November 10, at the Romanian Embassy in Washington, D.C., marked the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Iron Curtain. The book is more than a travelogue or memoir, and presents Romania through American eyes, to discover a remarkable country of boundless hospitality, brilliant skills and a bright future in a peaceful Europe.
