THIS WEEK, guests were invited to an exciting arts and performance property - called "Wonderbox" -- next to a dark and winding alley in central Washington, D.C., to celebrate well-known art impresaria Philippa Hughes' birthday. The big crowd - asked to "Dress like a star!" in the invitations -- got to enjoy a buffet of delicious food and drinks, listen to stimulating music provided by a deejay and musicians, watch energized performances of modern dance and pose for pictures taken with the "Birthday Girl."
PHILIPPA HUGHES, who is the successful founder and Chief Creative Contrarian of the Pink Line Project (www.pinklineproject.com), has been a major leader in developing the local art scene in the nation's capital. She has been featured in The Washington Post as one of "The Cultural Crowd's Refreshing Faces" who is "remaking the scene" in Washington as a connector and gatekeeper. She is also a commissioner on the D.C. Commission on the Arts & Humanities among other assignments.
