Well-known Washington photographer Jason Miccolo Johnson
WELL-KNOWN Washington photographer Jason Miccolo Johnson held a reception on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2010, to promote his latest book, “Cooking Up South: Entertaining with Soulful Recipes, Poems and Remembrances,” for which he did the photography that illustrates the cuisine presented in the book. Sylvia Dianne Beverly is the author, with accompanying poems and remembrances by Nikki Giovanni, Tinesah Davis, Le Hinton, Susan Laughter Meyers, Van Garrett and Marjory Wentworth, and an introduction by Kwame Alexander.
MR. JOHNSON also presented exquisite photographs of landscapes, Africa and Jamaica, along with historic images of Thurgood Marshall, Dorothy Height and a reunion of leaders of SNCC (the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee).
