THE OPENING reception of NOW at the Corcoran – Chris Martin: Painting Big – was held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., on Friday evening, June 17.
CHRIS MARTIN was born in Washington, D.C., in 1954. From 1972 to 1975 he attended Yale University, and in 1992 earned a BFA, Certificate of Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts, New York. Martin has been living and working in New York City since 1976, and has been exhibiting in the United States since the early 1980’s. He has also exhibited his work in Berlin and London.

NOW at the Corcoran is a series of exhibitions that presents new and site-specific work by emerging and mid-career artists. They highlight works that address issues central to the local, national, and global communities of Washington, D.C., and that respond to the collections, history and architecture of the museum.
