The Life and Work of Chilean Poet and Nobel Laureate Gabriela Mistral Celebrated at an Event in Washington, D.C.

Mattias Kraemer of The In Series, and his wife Elisa Milos. Kraemer announced the winners of a local Washington, D.C. poetry competition at an event at the Embassy of Chile, and he will also soon participate in the Peace and Love Rock and Roll Festival in Borlänge, Sweden.
THE LIFE and work of Chilean poet and Nobel Laureate Gabriela Mistral was celebrated at an event at the Embassy of Chile on Wednesday evening, June 8. The program included a documentary "Gabriela Mistral: Her Life, Her Legacy," produced by the Gabriela Mistral Foundation; poetry reading in Spanish by Professor Roberto Brodsky of Georgetown University and in English by Director Gloria Garafulich-Grabois of the Gabriela Mistral Foundation. Additionally Vice-Chairman Mario Paredes of the Gabriela Mistral Foundation talked about the foundation's work. Karen Morales and Emily Morrison performed poetry at the Gabriela Mistral event at the Embassy of Chile.
ON THE PROGRAM was also a video clip "Homenaje a Gabriela Mistral" - a poem written by and read by young Chilean girl Fernanda Araya, as well as "Finding Gabriela Mistral Poetry Award Ceremony" with Carla Hubner and Mattias Kraemer of The In Series, and a Musical Component - "Todas Ibamos a Ser Reinas" and "Dame la Mano" - with Karen Morales, Emily Morrison, Carla Hubner and Mattias Kraemer.
AFTER THE performance there was a reception. The event was a collaboration between the Embassy of Chile, the Gabriela Mistral Foundation (www.gabrielamistralfoundation.org), and The In Series (www.inseries.org).The winners of the poetry competition.
