‘Music: Stories to be told – Selma Lagerl?f & Fanteladda, A Musical Saga from V?mland’ performed at the House of Sweden in Washington

“MUSIC: Stories to be told – Selma Lagerl?f & Fanteladda, A Musical Saga from V?mland” was performed by musicians Mats Berglund, Eva Coyle and Jonas Jansson at the House of Sweden in Washington on Wednesday, May 28.

“FANTELADDA” is a musical saga about a poor girl whose only possession was a great love of dancing. The world-renowned and – Nobel prize winning – Swedish author Selma Lagerl?f grew up in the region of V?mland and was familiar with the story of “Fanteladda,” which she heard in her childhood, and touches in her writings. The concert contained the traditional folk music of V?mland with which Selma Lagerl?f grew up and to which she often returned in her writings.
